Jan Dravecky
Jan Dravecky, wife of former San Francisco baseball pitcher Dave Dravecky, stood by her husband through his diagnosis of cancer, his Major League comeback, the eventual amputation of his arm and the loss of his career.
While experiencing several other major losses in her life, Jan pushed aside her personal grief and attempted (alone) to take care of everyone and everything, including Dave and their two small children. Jan Dravecky always believed that she was strong enough to handle anything. Exhaustion resulted and inevitably, Jan began experiencing severe panic attacks and a crippling depression.
Feeling totally alone and hopeless, Jan began searching for a way out of the darkness she was experiencing. Jan honestly shares with her audiences her own personal journey and the many lessons she learned. She shares her own story so that others will know that they are not alone and be encouraged to not lose heart.
Jan Dravecky speaks at national women’s conferences, retreats, and corporate and civic organizations, sharing hope and encouragement in the midst of personal pain and tragedy.
Dave and Jan Dravecky founded the Outreach of Hope in 1991 in response to the thousands of letters and requests they received from hurting people encouraged by the Dravecky’s faith.
The overwhelming needs expressed in these heartfelt letters formed the basis of the ministry offered by the Outreach of Hope today.
