James Thompson is a professional speaker, entrepreneur, executive, activist, and two-time cancer survivor.

Thompson currently owns and operates Talo Analytic International, Inc. He has been a private consultant to the pulp and paper industry for twenty years, always operating his own business. He has special expertise in advising international financial center banks (such as GE Financial Services and others) in new construction in the pulp and paper industry. His consulting has been instrumental to nearly $6.5 billion in fresh investments in the pulp and paper industry. He also publishes the two highest readership ranked pulp and paper e-newsletters in the world, PaperMoney® and Nip Impressions®. Active in pulp and paper science education, he is the Chair of the Audit Committee for the Paper Science Foundation at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio and has served as a board member for the Pulp and Paper Foundation at North Carolina State University.
