Super Bowl Champ Helps Athletes, Parents and Coaches Keep Sports in Perspective

Hunter Smith, a 12-year NFL alumni partnered with Tony Dungy and Indianapolis Colts teammates from the Super Bowl XLI Championship team to help athletes, parents, and coaches gain proper perspective on sports in his book The Jersey Effect.

Smith will speak at the YMCA on Wednesday, March 12, at noon during Huddle about the book. A book-signing will be held after the presentation.

The Jersey Effect uses real-life stories to address negative cultural trends and illuminate the truth and lies in sports. Fame and fortune can hijack even the most well-intentioned players, feeding them subtle lies that sports is the most important thing.

The Jersey Effect demonstrates how to pursue the ultimate prize—a goal that has little to do with winning a world championship and everything to do with how we can have a positive effect on those around us through the sports we love.
For more information on the presentation, call the YMCA at 457-4447.
