
Born in 1956 in Wilwaukee, Wisconsin, Ernie Johson began his broadcasting career in 1977. He worked as a radio anchr for WAGQ-FM in Athens, Georgia as he pursued his degree from the University of Georgia. News anchoring spots followed in Macon, Georgia; Spartanburg, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia. Ernie Johnson began broadcasting for Turner Sports in 1989. He not only hosts the award winning "Inside the NBA" but also handles play-by-play announcing for the PGA Tour coverage. He has also broadcasted NBC's weightlifting coverage in 2000 and been the studio host for Wimbledon Championships from 2000 to 2002. He also broadcasted from the Summer Olympics.
Ernie Johnson now resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his wife, Cheryl, and their four children. He is the winner of the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Sports Personality, Studio Host.
