Stories are usually seen as something we do to pass time and let our minds day dream. They’re often seen as a form of recreation but in fact, stories push some of the most successful brands and people. At our most recent Premiere University session, we had the privilege of listening to a great storyteller, Donald Miller, share the making of StoryBrand. He is currently one of the most sought-after speakers in the world, with good reason. Every opportunity Don has to engage an audience comes with his gift of creating a truly unique, story-rich experience.

Don is the best-selling author of seven books and one screenplay with his most prominent works being Blue Like Jazz, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years and Scary Close. In 2012, Don published Storyline: Finding Your Subplot in God’s Story. The essence of Storyline comes down to one important question: when the credits roll at the end of your life, how will you have wanted to live? To help readers answer this question better, Don emphasizes direction and clarity as the keys to “living a great story.” Following Storyline was the birth of the Storyline Conference, which is an amazing opportunity for attendees to immerse themselves in life-planning knowledge and engage in community at the same time. This annual conference has been a huge success and has sold out repeatedly! No surprise there. The concept of Storyline eventually bled into the corporate and business side of storytelling. Don realized that the importance of clarity is just as applicable to a brand as it is to an individual. StoryBrand is the answer to the lack of clarity that many businesses face in their marketing strategy to help ’connect with customers, revolutionize your marketing and grow your company.’ In the short time that Don spent telling us about StoryBrand, we couldn’t believe how much we had learned! He is doing something truly remarkable in his partnerships with people and brands to bring back the lost art of storytelling.

“And once you live a good story, you get a taste for a kind of meaning in life, and you can’t go back to being normal; you can’t go back to meaningless scenes stitched together by the forgettable thread of wasted time.”
- Don Miller
