
Tony Perkins is President of the Washington, D.C. based Family Research Council. Mr. Perkins is a former member of the Louisiana legislature where he served for eight years, and he was recognized as a legislative pioneer for authoring measures like the nation's first Covenant Marriage law. Under his leadership, FRC has worked to affirm and defend the Judeo-Christian values that this nation is founded upon.
Tony Perkins and FRC have led the way in the fight to defend and strengthen one man/one woman marriage, as well as protecting the unborn and their mothers by assisting in the passage of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. FRC has also been leading on the battle to rein in activist courts by helping to confirm the president's judicial nominees. Tony hosts a weekly national radio program, "Washington Watch Weekly," and he also sends daily updates to tens of thousands of grassroots activists. An effective communicator, Mr. Perkins has regularly appeared on numerous national programs such as FOX's "Special Report with Brit Hume" and "Hannity and Colmes;" MSNBC's "Scarborough Country" and "Hardball;" ABC's "Good Morning America;" NBC's "Today Show," "Nightly News" and "Dateline;" CBS's "The Early Show" and "Evening News;" and CNN's "Crossfire." In addition, he has been a keynote speaker for organizations across the country as well as a guest on dozens of local and nationally syndicated radio programs.
Mr. Perkins has a tremendous burden to reclaim the culture for Christ and believes that this revival will begin in the churches across America. Under his leadership FRC began a Pastors' Outreach program that is engaging Christians in civic affairs as never before.
A veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, and a former police officer and television news reporter, Tony brings a unique blend of experience and leadership to the pro-family movement. Tony and Lawana, his wife of 19 years, have four children.
