Biography

During his career, Michael etched his name in the NFL record books. His eleven 100-yard receiving games during the 1995 season is still the NFL standard. Michael was selected to five Pro Bowls giving him more Pro Bowl appearances than any other wide receiver in Cowboy history. Those who are scholars of the game credit Michael with changing how the wide receiver position is played. Michael Irvin was nominated for the Football Hall of Fame in 2005, the first year he qualified.

After making his 750th career catch on October 10, 1999, Irvin suffered a spinal injury, which caused him to retire. Married to his high school sweetheart, Sandy in 1988, Michael Irvin is the proud father of four children. He is currently writing a book that deals with his life on and off the field.

Irvin has followed his incredibly successful Football career, with a just as successful broadcasting career. He was recently nominated for a Sports Emmy Award, in the category of Outstanding Sports Personality / Studio Sports Analyst for his continual work on ESPN. Awards will be announced on May 2nd. Before joining ESPN, Michael Irvin could been seen as a regular correspondent on Fox Sport's "Best Damn Sport Show."

Michael Irvin is one of 17 children and the son of a Miami roofer. After his family, football is Michael's first love. A graduate of University of Miami, where he set school receiving records with 143 catches for 2,423 yards and 26 touchdowns, Michael was the #1 Draft Choice of the Dallas Cowboys in 1988, under Coach Tom Landry. As a rookie, he caught 32 passes for 654 yards, a 20.4 average, with 5 touchdowns. Michael and the Cowboys won 3 Super Bowls and he owns or is tied for 20 Cowboy receiving records, including nearly every major career or single season standard. Michael Irvin was one corner of the "Big Three" with Emmit Smith and Troy Aikman.

Michael Irvin made his acting debut in the feature film "THE LONGEST YARD" opposite Adam Sander and Chris Rock. Irvin played bad guy 'Deacon Moss,' the team captain of the Prison Guard.
