Kim Carpenter

Kim Carpenter, Ph.D. along with his wife Krickitt are the real life true story behind the #1 Box Office hit movie The Vow. They are also the authors of the New York Times #1 Best Selling Book titled The Vow, The True Events that Inspired the Movie. The Carpenter's have shared their story to a worldwide audience reaching an estimated 400 million people who have either seen read or heard their story. Dr. Carpenter is currently writing a screenplay for a sequel to the movie and they are also a feature biography among books such as Chicken Soup for the Couples Soul. Kim has spent the past 12 years interviewing worldwide with wife Krickitt and has an extensive amount of time presenting as a national speaker. Their story has become the subject of more than 400 interviews worldwide to include two appearances in People Magazine and the Today Show, Christian Reader, New Man Magazine, three appearances on Dateline NBC and Inside Edition, the Oprah Winfrey Show, Dr. Phil, Japanese, German, United Kingdom and Australian television and print media. Speaking audiences have included corporations, colleges and high schools, non-profit organizations, church and Christian events, and sports teams. Kim currently serves as the County Executive Officer (CEO) of San Juan County, NM. He has degrees in Business, Human Performance, and Education. He also completed the Management Development Program at Harvard University's Institute of Higher Education. Other work experience includes 18 years in Higher Education athletics and administration and the past 7 in government.He is the proud father of two children.
THE STORY
Life as Kim and Krickitt Carpenter knew it was shattered beyond recognition on November 24, 1993. Two months after their marriage, a devastating car wreck left Krickitt with a massive head injury and in a coma for weeks.

When she finally awoke, she had no idea who Kim was. The woman he had married essentially died in the accident.

Against all odds, Kim and Krickitt fell in love all over again.Even though Kim stood by Krickitt through the darkest times a husband can ever imagine, he insists, "what I did to many seems amazing and heroic. Actually I simply did what I said I would do. I made a vow."
Today, Kim serves as the CEO of San Juan County in New Mexico.
