Afterwards, it is encouraged to arrange debriefing sessions so that those in attendance can reflect on the lesson and talk with Adam about his teaching.

Sometimes we call it mood, sometimes we call it how you feel, but when you walk into your school each day, what thoughts run through your mind? Are you surrounded by happy people? Do you feel like you belong and have a say? These important questions and more are addressed in the climate and culture workshop. School staffs collaborate and are invited to pose valuable thoughts and feedback on the current climate and culture of their school. Not only that, but staff members discuss and begin to brainstorm where they want to go as a school and how they can get there. Examples and ideas of ways to increase climate and culture are provided by the presenter. This workshop will provide administration with insight on areas that are successful and areas to grow on. By the end, all in attendance will have had a voice in the process, empowering teachers and staff members.

Suggested time: 45-60 minutes

Suggested Audience: Entire Staff from a School

As teachers, we compete with many outside influences for our students’ attention: internet, television, movies, and cell phones. Still, we must find ways to engage our students in our classrooms each day. We must find ways to be the distraction our students want to follow. It is important for teachers to build a “teacher toolbox” of engagement strategies and techniques, so that when one method runs dry, another one is available. All the Small Things will give educators practical, easy to implement engagement ideas that they can bring back to their classrooms immediately.

Suggested Time: 60-120 minutes

Suggested Audience: K-8th teachers
